Writing a Path to Your Sacred Center Course Details

Here is a more In-depth look at Writing a Path to Your Sacred Center

The Course Structure

Class One: The Voice of Your Heart — Writing From the Sacred Center

Let your words become the voice of your heart—broken, whole, and everything in between.

We begin with the heart—the sacred center where grief meets grace, where silence can turn to song, and where your truest voice begins to rise. Whether your heart feels raw with sorrow, cracked open with rage, or quietly blooming with hope, this class invites you to meet yourself exactly where you are—and write from that living, breathing truth.

There is no right way to feel. There is only this: the honesty of your voice, the courage to speak it, and the sacred act of giving form to what lives within.

When you write from the heart:

  • You remember that your vulnerability is a source of power.
  • You begin to reclaim your voice as a path to wholeness.
  • You feel more grounded in your body, and more at home in your own truth.
  • You awaken the healing that begins with expression and unfolds into insight.

This first step sets the tone for the journey ahead: a return to the inner sanctuary of your being, where your voice becomes medicine, and your writing becomes a way back to yourself.

“The way forward is with a broken heart.” — Alice Walker
“A wound is a place where light enters your soul.” — Rumi

“Begin where your heart is—let sorrow speak, let hope sing, let your truest voice lead you home.”

Class Two: Your Silence Is a Holy Place

Restoring voice to the part of you that went quiet.

When heartbreak overwhelms you, or the world becomes too much to bear, silence can feel like both refuge and exile. This session honors the sacredness of that silence—not as something to fix, but as something to listen to.

Silence is not the absence of voice, but a place of deep knowing. Here, in the stillness, you may begin to hear what you could not say before. You may discover that your silence has been holding something precious: the seeds of your return.

Together, we’ll create a compassionate space to listen inwardly—to what has gone unsaid, to what was silenced by grief, trauma, or fear—and to begin restoring language to those parts of you. Through writing, guided reflection, and embodied practice, you’ll begin to:

  • Reclaim the voice that was silenced by heartbreak, trauma, or overwhelm.
  • Listen deeply to the wisdom within your silence.
  • Discover that your quietness holds power, not absence.
  • Begin to heal what you thought was broken—by honoring it, not erasing it.

This is not about forcing words to come. It is about honoring the sacred mystery of your own becoming—by listening with tenderness, by letting silence lead you back to your voice.

“When you give voice to what’s been silent, you start to heal.
But when you know that your silence is also a holy place,
you discover you were never broken at all.”

Debora Seidman

"My silences had not protected me. Your silence will not protect you."
— Audre Lorde

Class Three: Rest Until You Remember What You Love

A return to the body. A homecoming to your own wholeness.

In a world that glorifies exhaustion, rest becomes a radical act of remembrance. In this soul-centered mini retreat, we’ll explore rest not as a luxury, but as a sacred pathway back to the voice of the body, the resilience of the heart, and the wisdom of what you love.

Through guided writing, deep listening, and gentle inquiry, you’ll be invited to:

  • Reconnect with your body’s wisdom and uncover what true nourishment means for you
  • Listen for what your exhaustion is trying to say
  • Reflect on what changes when you feel restored and whole
  • Write from a place of softness, rather than striving
  • Reclaim radical self-care as a spiritual and creative practice

This is not about pushing through. It’s about surrendering to stillness long enough to hear the truth beneath the noise—and allowing rest to guide you back to what matters most.

Class Four: Finding the Hidden Light

Awaken as a Steward of Life in a Time of Great Turning

Even in the darkest times, a quiet light endures—waiting to be seen, honored, and lived. This session invites you to turn toward the broken places in your life and in the world—not to fix or deny them, but to listen for what they reveal.

What if the very places you’ve felt cracked open are where your true light begins to shine?

Through sacred writing, guided reflection, and poetic visioning, you’ll begin to uncover the hidden light you carry—the essence of who you are and what you’re here to offer. The ancient Jewish conceptof tikkun olam speaks of repairing the world, shard by shard. This class helps you recognize how your voice, your story, and your presence are part of that sacred repair.

You’ll explore:

  • The wisdom within your wounds—and how they shape your soul’s offering
  • Your unique gift, shaped in the dark, waiting to be lived into the world
  • A deeper sense of your path as an Earth Keeper, called to live with reverence and courage

You’ll remember that you are not alone. You are held by Earth,  Spirit, and by a living web of connection that spans generations, species, and stars. As you give voice to your hidden light, you take your place in this sacred web—as a steward of life in a time of rebirth.

Class Five: Walking with Gaia

Writing as Devotion, Earth as Beloved

This session is a prayer for the Earth—and a remembrance of your place within her.
Through ritual, reflection, and writing, you’ll explore:

  • The Earth as kin, teacher, and sacred support
  • Listening to the land as a form of prayer
  • Your writing as an offering and thread in the living web of life

As you write, you may begin to hear your own call—not just to care for the Earth, but to stand as a keeper of life, rooted in reverence and ready to respond.

You are not separate from the Earth’s dreaming.
You are part of her healing.

Class Six: Writing Your Deepest Prayer

Integration, Vision & the Call of Your Sacred Center

Write from the sacred center of your being—naming your vision, clarifying your path, and offering your voice as a prayer for life.

Let your words become a prayer—rooted in your truth, lit by your vision, and offered as a gift to the living world.

In this final gathering, we return to the still point at the heart of the journey—the sacred center within you.

Through reflection and guided writing, you’ll look back on where you’ve been: the words you’ve spoken, the truths you’ve touched, the light you’ve uncovered in places once hidden. You’ll remember how your voice has changed—and how it has, in turn, changed you.

This is a time for integration. For harvesting the gold you’ve found in the cracks.
For naming the deeper truth that’s been quietly forming within you all along.

Then, from that center, you’ll be invited to write your deepest prayer:
Not a performance or perfection—but a living articulation of your vision, your devotion, your next becoming.
A prayer for your life, for this Earth, and for the path you are now more fully ready to walk.

Together we’ll:

  • Revisit the most meaningful practices and moments of the journey
  • Name what has been reclaimed, revealed, or remembered
  • Listen for the call emerging from within—your path, your voice, your offering
  • Write a prayer that reflects the truth of who you are now

As we close, you’ll carry with you a renewed sense of belonging to yourself, to the Earth, and to the living web of care that surrounds you. You’ll leave with a compass: a deepened connection to your sacred center and a written prayer to guide you forward.

Your voice is part of what helps life heal itself.
You are not alone. You are already held.
You are here for this.

FAQ Questions:

Three hours on Zoom??
If you feel drawn to join Writing a Path to Your Sacred Center, but feel daunted by the prospect of a three-hour zoom call, let me explain a few things.

These three hours are for you. This class is set up to feel like a mini-retreat. It is set up to be restorative time, for your whole being.

You will not be sitting still in front of a screen for three hours.

You’ll be writing. In a group. And sharing your writing with each other.

When you’re writing, you’ll have the option to have your camera off and step away from the screen altogether.

There will be plenty of breaks for you to take care of your body. I can’t sit for three hours without pausing to stretch, move, get up from my chair, use the bathroom, drink water, and I’m not expecting you to either.

I’ll encourage you to have snacks ready. Your favorite cup of tea or coffee. A comfy couch nearby or a mat on the floor where you can lie down and listen to a guided meditation.

My teaching is all about embodiment. I often start a writing exercise with a long meditation.

Sometimes, weather and other circumstances permitting, you’ll be invited to step outside, to connect with your favorite tree, or look at the sky.

You’ll be caring for your body the whole time we are together.

We need three hours because writing takes time, sharing your writing with each other takes time, processing the emotions that can arise when you’re engaging with deep soul writing takes time.

But I promise you, you’ll feel nourished by the time we spend. If you don’t, tell me. I’ll give you your money back. I mean it.

How should I prepare for the sessions?
To get the most out of each mini-retreat:

  • Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed.
  • Bring a journal or notebook and your favorite pen.
  • I encourage writing by hand — there’s a natural flow between hand and heart.

If possible, give yourself time after the session to rest and integrate before moving on with your day.

What do you mean by “prayer”? Do I have to be religious to take this course?

Answer:
No, you do not have to be religious to take this course. Writing a Path To Your Sacred Center isn’t about religion or prescribed prayers you may have grown up with. When I say you’ll be writing a prayer. it’s about prayer in its most essential form: a way to connect with what is sacred, to commune with a vast and loving Source beyond words—and deep within you. Whether you call that Source God, Goddess, Spirit, the Divine, or simply the Mystery, this course invites you to explore prayer as a path to remember your belonging, your wholeness, and your connection to all life. In times of heartbreak and uncertainty, prayer can be a lifeline—a way to return to the truth that you are/

All that’s required is a willingness to show up with curiosity and a desire to connect with your inner voice. You don’t need any special skills—just a heart that longs to listen, reflect, and express.

What if I’ve never written a prayer before?
Perfect. You’re in exactly the right place. This course is designed to guide you gently into discovering what prayer means to you—on your own terms, in your own words. You don’t need any background in spiritual writing or religious tradition. We'll explore writing as a sacred practice, a way to speak from your heart and listen for the wisdom within.

Will I be required to share my writing with the group?
Every session includes the opportunity to share what you’ve written, and participants often find that hearing each other’s words builds a powerful sense of community. That said, sharing is always encouraged—but never required. You will never be put on the spot. You are always free to choose what feels right for you in the moment. This is a safe, compassionate space where your voice will be honored, whether spoken aloud or kept close to your heart.
