I gave up on every dream I had…

A session I had last week with a long time student began with her reflecting, “I gave up on every dream I had.”

She continued to say how she feels now, when she comes back to her creativity, her writing. “It’s the gift of returning home.”

She’s been dancing with her writing for a few years now, coming closer, moving away, like many of us. Like I did for a long time. Until I learned to trust myself. Until I learned what I needed to be safe, in order to actually stay present with that dream I wanted most: the dream of being a writer.

I know this is a busy time of year. But because it’s also a reflective time of year, I want to offer you a question to consider: How would your life change if you Really knew, that your voice mattered?

How would your life be different, this time next year, if you took a stand to believe in yourself and your call to write?

If you got it in your bones, that you are worthy of doing the writing that you long to do?

After twenty years of teaching, coaching and mentoring women who want to write, and longer than that working through what gets in the way of my own writing, if there’s one thing that I know for sure it’s that what keeps us from writing is never what we think it is.

It’s not that you’re not good enough. It’s not that you don’t have time. It’s some version or another of not knowing your own worth. Not knowing that your voice matters. And mixed in with that, is fear. On some level, it’s all about fear.

All of this makes a lot of sense.

Writing is scary. It’s risky to be vulnerable, to go within and find what you really think and feel. And it’s risky to put your voice out into the world, where it’s subject to what other people think and feel.

It takes a great deal of strength, courage and self-respect to keep going for your writing dreams. And yet I believe that if you’re called to write, for any reason, that call matters.

And if you don’t write, something will always be missing from your life.

Following that call may very well lead you into territory that’s uncomfortable, because, as I said, it’s risky to write. Yet if you keep going toward the call, you have the opportunity to truly fulfill your soul’s destiny.

And if you pay attention to the places where you get scared and stuck and filled with self-doubt, you have the opportunity to heal your own wounds.

Writing can teach you to love yourself. Writing can show you where you are not yet able to love yourself. And then, if you pay attention, writing can set you free to love yourself more than you ever knew was possible.

I believe that Women’s Voices are profoundly necessary to life on earth, in these times. I believe that your voice matters. It matters to you, because only if you free your voice will you have access to the fullness of yourself.

And it matters to our world. Because only if sensitive, intelligent, conscious women bring their voices into the world, will the conversation change, about what matters for life on earth.

I created the class, Women’s Voices Rising for Life on Earth specifically to address the fears and doubts that get in your way, and to offer you new tools and a new paradigm for creating a healthy relationship with your writing.

The class will help you clarify your Sacred Call to Write.

And teach you to source your writing in a connection with the Earth, the wisdom of your own body, and what is Sacred to you.

This is a powerfully transformative class. I’ve been teaching it over this past year as a four week teleclass. As I’ve developed this program, it’s deepened and strengthened, and in February, 2015, I’m launching it as a seven week teleclass.

This class draws on twenty years of experience teaching writing as an earth-centered, body centered, sacred process. And twenty years of experience working with women to free them from the blocks that keep them from writing.

On Tuesday, January 6 I’ll be offering a free teleclass to share the important teachings of this program, and to give you a chance to ask any questions.

The class itself begins Tuesday, February 10, or on Thursday, February 12. There will be two sections. Tuesday at 5 pm Pacific Time ( 8pm Eastern) and Thursday at 10 am Pacific, 1 pm Eastern.

You can learn more about the class here.

Please join me on Tuesday, January 6 for a free call to learn more about Women’s Voices Rising. The call will be at 5 pm Pacific, 6 pm Mountain, 8 pm Eastern Time.

If you’re ready to register, there’s an early bird price in effect from now until January 19. After that, the price goes up.

For now, I invite you to consider the question I started with: how would your life change if you really knew that your voice matters? In these sacred days as we move toward the end of 2014, take some time with your journal to respond to that question.

May you be blessed with miracles in this season,
